Registered Nurse - Inpatient Palliative Care
Location: Carmichael, California
Start Date: 07-07-2026
End Date: 10-06-2026
Contract Type: Contract
Shift Type: 8-hour day shifts, start times between 7:30 AM and 8:00 AM, every other weekend rotation, rotating holidays
Hours per Week: 40
Candidate Pay Rate: $71 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain daily patient lists and review patient charts
- Assess patient needs and initiate goals of care discussions
- Educate patients and families on disease process, advance directives, and POLST
- Lead family meetings and provide end-of-life support and education
- Attend daily interdisciplinary rounds to coordinate palliative care
- Collaborate with physicians, nurse practitioners, and team members
- Document patient interactions and care plans in Cerner EMR
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years recent experience in palliative care, hospice, ICU, or oncology
- Active California RN license in good standing
- BLS certification required
- ELNEC certification strongly preferred
- Strong acute care clinical thinking and communication skills
- Flexibility and excellent organizational skills
- Compassionate desire to serve patients, families, and team members
Knowledge & Skills
- In-depth knowledge of palliative care principles and end-of-life care
- Proficiency with Cerner electronic medical records
- Strong clinical reasoning and critical thinking abilities
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Effective organizational and time management skills
- Understanding of advanced directives and POLST documentation
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team
