Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and continuously monitor critically ill patients in a 20-bed ICU using Cerner and Phillips monitoring systems
• Manage advanced life support interventions including ventilator care (Puritan Bennett 840) and vasoactive drips
• Interpret telemetry strips and respond to cardiac and neurologic changes promptly
• Collaborate with the in-house intensivist and multidisciplinary team for optimal patient outcomes
• Perform CRRT management and care for post-op cardiac, neuro-trauma and complex surgical patients
• Serve in charge nurse duties when assigned (note: charge nurses typically do not have a patient assignment)
• Provide safe, evidence-based nursing care and participate in unit-based orientation and training

Qualifications

• Active RN license (eligible to practice in California)
• Minimum 2 years of recent ICU/critical care nursing experience required
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications; NIHSS required
• Experience with mechanical ventilation (Puritan Bennett 840), vasoactive medication administration, and CRRT
• Comfortable reading/interpreting telemetry and using Cerner EMR
• Previous travel nurse experience preferred
• COVID-19 vaccination documentation required per facility policy

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN). BSN preferred but not required
• Required: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS certifications

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong critical thinking and rapid assessment skills in high-acuity settings
• Proficient in ventilator management and troubleshooting
• Skilled in titration and monitoring of vasopressors and other drips
• Telemetry interpretation and cardiac rhythm recognition
• Familiarity with Cerner charting and Phillips monitoring systems
• Excellent communication and teamwork with physicians, RTs, pharmacy, and support staff
