Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care to critically ill patients in a 33-bed ICU with a mix of trauma, cardiac, stroke, and other complex cases
• Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms on GE monitors, documenting strips as required
• Titrate cardiac drips, insulin, sedation, and other titratable medications safely and effectively
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team including physicians, respiratory therapists, and nursing aides to deliver comprehensive care
• Float to PCU or MedSurg as needed, maintaining appropriate nurse-to-patient ratios
• Adhere to unit policies including artificial nail restrictions and pass/fail orientation exam

Qualifications

• Active RN license in Nebraska or compact state
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Driver's license required (must be submitted and used to verify distance from facility)
• Minimum 1-2 years of recent ICU experience preferred
• Ability to pass an open-book skills exam during orientation with a 90% or higher
• Willingness to work every other weekend and minimum 2 holidays during contract

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of ICU procedures including ventilator management, drip titration, and patient monitoring
• Proficiency in interpreting ECG strips and using telemetry monitoring systems
• Skills in caring for patients with trauma, cardiac conditions, stroke, renal failure, sepsis, and respiratory distress
• Strong critical thinking, communication, and teamwork abilities
• Ability to adapt to fast-paced, high-acuity environment
