Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and prepare patients for endoscopy procedures with compassion and attention to detail
• Provide peri-procedural nursing care during EGD, colonoscopy, ERCP, MRCP and biopsy procedures
• Monitor patient vitals and sedation closely and intervene promptly when needed
• Document accurately and efficiently in Cerner-Surginet to ensure continuity of care
• Serve as charge nurse when assigned, coordinating the team and managing flow in a busy GI lab
• Participate in weekend on-call rotations and holiday coverage to support patient needs
• Float to PACU/ACU as required, integrating smoothly with different care teams
• Collaborate with physicians, RT, pharmacy and other in-house resources to deliver safe, timely care

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of California required
• Minimum 2 years of Endoscopy/GI nursing experience required
• BLS and ACLS certifications required, NIHSS (stroke) certification required
• Experience with Cerner-Surginet or similar EMR strongly preferred
• Previous charge nurse or leadership experience is a plus
• Willingness to participate in weekend and on-call rotations (EOW required)
• COVID-19 vaccination required per facility policy
• Comfort floating to PACU/ACU and adapting to varied 8-hour shifts

Education

• Active RN license required
• BSN not required (Associate degree or diploma acceptable)

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong knowledge of endoscopic procedures: EGD, Colonoscopy, ERCP, MRCP and biopsies
• Proficient in peri-procedural patient assessment, monitoring and recovery
• Skilled in documentation within Cerner and surgical/ procedural workflows
• Ability to manage multiple cases per day (average 3-5) and respond to emergencies
• Excellent communication, teamwork and delegation skills as a charge nurse
• Familiarity with sterile technique, infection control and procedural sedation
• Comfort with call responsibilities and holiday coverage when needed
