Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality emergency nursing care for a diverse, high-acuity patient population
• Perform rapid assessment, triage and prioritized interventions to stabilize patients
• Lead and execute time-sensitive procedures including RSI and sepsis interventions
• Administer stroke protocol treatments including tPA per standing orders and guidelines
• Assist with central line placement and provide post-procedure monitoring and care
• Coordinate safe transfers and EMTALA-required transfers to other facilities when needed
• Document patient care and communicate clearly using the Meditech EMR
• Collaborate with physicians, medics and interdisciplinary team members to deliver patient-centered care and a calm, team-oriented environment

Qualifications

• Active RN licensure appropriate for practice in Virginia (state license or compact privileges recommended)
• Must have completed 2-3 prior travel nursing assignments
• 2-3 years of Emergency Room nursing experience (high-acuity ER experience preferred)
• Current BLS, ACLS and PALS certifications required
• TNCC preferred; ENPC, NRP and NIH certifications are a plus
• Comfortable in fast-paced, high-volume ER settings and able to manage typical patient ratios

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong emergency nursing skills: triage, patient resuscitation and rapid assessment
• Experience with Meditech EMR for accurate and timely documentation
• Competence in RSI, sepsis interventions, stroke protocol/tPA administration
• Familiarity with central line placement care and post-procedural monitoring
• Experience managing EMTALA transfers and inter-facility coordination
• Ability to work effectively in high-acuity, high-volume ERs and maintain teamwork under pressure
• Comfort with typical ER patient ratios (4-6:1; some roles involve 5:1)
