Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide emergency nursing care to trauma and critically ill patients in a Level 1 Trauma Center
• Triage and manage a diverse patient population in a fast-paced ED with 88,000 annual visits
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including physicians, midlevels, and support staff
• Perform procedures such as Foley catheter insertion, central line dressing changes, and port-a-cath insertion
• Maintain sterile field and adhere to strict infection control protocols during high-acuity procedures
• Float between four facilities within 30 minutes of each other, adapting quickly to different environments

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of ER experience required; 6 months of Level 1 Trauma experience mandatory
• Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications (ENPC not accepted in place of PALS)
• TNCC and ATCN certifications preferred
• Must pass a Dysrhythmia (DYS) exam prior to acceptance (2 attempts; failure results in 6-month DNU)
• Pass fail SIMs Lab on day 1 – must demonstrate competence in sterile field maintenance
• Clean shaven for fit test; natural hair color and no facial piercings required

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficiency in Cerner EMR and Philips telemetry monitoring
• Excellent assessment and critical thinking skills for rapid decision-making
• Ability to work independently and as part of a high-functioning team
• Strong communication skills when interacting with patients, families, and staff
• Knowledge of trauma protocols and emergency procedures
