Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide safe, effective, patient-family centered emergency nursing care
• Perform excellent assessment and rapid decision-making in urgent situations
• Document care accurately and thoroughly in the electronic medical record
• Communicate clearly with patients, families and the interdisciplinary team
• Act independently when required and escalate appropriately for complex cases
• Maintain confidentiality and support the organization's mission and values
• Participate in emergency response and support departmental readiness

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (Maine license or compact eligible) required
• Current BLS certification required; ACLS and PALS preferred or obtainable
• Experience with emergency department nursing and 12-hour night shifts preferred
• Strong clinical assessment, documentation and communication skills
• Comfort with electronic medical record (EMR) systems and clinical documentation
• Ability to function independently, maintain confidentiality and act quickly in emergencies

Education

• Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required; BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• ED nursing and emergency response
• Patient assessment and rapid decision-making
• Clinical documentation and EMR proficiency
• Strong communication with patients, families and teams
• Computer skills for documentation and order entry
• Patient-family centered care and confidentiality practices
