Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality post-operative cardiac and critical care to CVICU and CVRU patients
• Manage advanced cardiac support devices such as ECMO, Impella, IABP and LVAD with confidence
• Assess and interpret hemodynamics to guide timely clinical interventions
• Perform and support airway management including intubation and extubation when required
• Handle chest tube and pacer wire management and safe removal procedures
• Document care accurately and efficiently in Cerner EMR and collaborate with the interdisciplinary team
• Provide compassionate patient and family education during the recovery process
• Support unit orientation and mentor colleagues when able to promote team growth

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing (ability to obtain NC licensure if needed)
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Minimum 2+ years of CVICU or CVRU nursing experience
• Critical care training or equivalent ICU experience
• Comfortable working with high-acuity cardiac surgical patients and advanced devices
• High-energy, upbeat personality with strong teamwork and communication skills
• Willingness to float to other ICUs and Stepdown units as needed

Education

• Active RN license required
• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficient with Cerner EMR documentation
• Experience with GE patient monitoring systems
• Skilled in hemodynamic monitoring and interpretation
• Hands-on with ECMO, Impella, IABP and LVAD support workflows
• Competence in chest tube and pacer wire management
• Airway management skills including intubation/extubation
• Strong post-operative cardiac surgical knowledge
