Registered Nurse - Cardiac Telemetry
Location: Wilmington, NC

Contract Type: Travel Contract
Shift Type: Night, 3x12-hour (6:45 PM - 7:15 AM), typically 3 nights/week; includes 5-6 weekend shifts over a 6-week period (approximately every other weekend); 36-hour option available
Hours per Week: 36
Candidate Pay Rate: $53 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Monitor and interpret cardiac telemetry continuously to detect and respond to dysrhythmias
- Titrate and manage vasoactive and cardiac drips (e.g., Diltiazem, Amiodarone, Dobutamine, Milrinone) safely and effectively
- Provide pre- and post-procedure care for cardiac cath and cardiac surgery patients, including sheath removal and TR band management
- Administer IV therapy and blood products while maintaining meticulous central and PICC line care
- Document patient care accurately in EPIC and coordinate medication dispensing through Pyxis
- Participate in Rapid Response/Code teams and lead emergency responses when needed
- Communicate patient condition clearly using SBAR and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams
- Adhere to unit call-off policy, participate in Storm/Hurricane team assignments, and maintain professionalism under changing conditions
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (state-appropriate) — required
- Minimum 2 years of strong cardiac/telemetry or stepdown experience — required
- ACLS certification — required prior to start; BLS and NIH/NIHSS preferred
- Must pass EKG testing prior to start for this specialty
- Experience with EPIC documentation, Pyxis, and remote monitoring systems
- Comfortable titrating vasoactive/cardiac drips and managing central/PICC lines
- Ability to float as needed and work nights and every-other-weekend schedule
- Professional attitude, teamwork mindset, and adherence to strict call-off policies
Education
- Active RN licensure (Associate's or Bachelor's in Nursing preferred)
- Certifications: ACLS required; BLS and NIHSS preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation
- Cardiac drip titration and vasoactive medication management
- Pre/post cardiac cath and cardiac surgery care, including sheath removal
- Blood product administration and IV/central line management
- EPIC charting, Pyxis medication workflows, and SBAR communication
- Rapid Response/Code team participation and emergency cardiac care
- Non-invasive airway management and basic respiratory support
- Ability to work within interdisciplinary teams and follow disaster/storm protocols
