Registered Nurse - Cardiac Cath Lab
Location: Seattle, WA

Contract Type: Travel Contract
Shift Type: Rotating day shifts, 3x12-hour (7:00 AM - 7:00 PM), typically three daytime 12-hour shifts per week; includes on-call responsibilities with evenings and weekend standby per a 6-week schedule (30-minute response requirement)
Hours per Week: 60
Candidate Pay Rate: $64 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Scrub and assist during diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheterization procedures, maintaining a sterile field
- Set up and verify specialty cath lab equipment, including fluoroscopy systems and vascular closure devices
- Perform EKG/ECG lead placement and assist with obtaining 12-lead ECGs and cardioversion/defibrillation when needed
- Prep vascular access sites and support sheath removal and post-procedure monitoring
- Recognize and respond to life-threatening arrhythmias and participate in rapid response/STEMI activations
- Assist with advanced support devices and procedures such as IABP, Impella, VAD insertion, PCI and TAVR support
- Use documentation and medication systems (EPIC, McKesson, Pyxis) and communicate effectively using SBAR
- Respond to on-call notifications within the unit's 30-minute requirement and support emergent patient needs
Qualifications
- Active RN license (Washington/compact license honored at Swedish facilities) — must meet facility licensure rules
- Minimum 2 years of Cath Lab experience (note: 1 year critical care + 2 years cath lab experience preferred; unit will screen strong candidates)
- Must have demonstrated scrub experience — comfortable scrubbing for procedures is required
- Comfortable with interventional and diagnostic cardiac cath procedures including PCI, PTCA, left/right heart catheterizations
- Familiarity with cath lab equipment and vascular closure systems (Perclose, StarClose)
- Ability to respond to on-call duties and meet the 30-minute response time requirement
- ACLS and BLS certifications preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Cardiac Cath Lab and Electrophysiology (EP) Lab workflow and procedures
- Scrub technique and maintenance of a sterile field
- Fluoroscopy operation familiarity and radiology workflow (Siemens systems noted)
- Proficiency with EPIC, McKesson documentation systems and Pyxis medication systems
- EKG/ECG placement and interpretation basics, recognition of life-threatening arrhythmias
- IV therapy skills: start and maintain IVs, sheath removal monitoring
- Experience with vascular closure systems and percutaneous device support (IABP, Impella, VAD)
- Strong communication using SBAR and working within rapid response/STEMI teams
