Roles & Responsibilities

• Conduct one-time Compensation & Pension (C&P) exams and Separation Health Assessments with professionalism and compassion
• Perform interview-based evaluations to capture clear, Veteran-centered histories
• Complete focused physical assessments including range of motion and muscle strength testing
• Document findings thoroughly and submit timely exam reports, addendums, and medical opinions as required
• Review and interpret diagnostic information when needed to support exam conclusions
• Adhere to VES procedures and complete required training and onboarding promptly

Qualifications

• Clinical background in family medicine, internal medicine, orthopedic surgery, or general medicine — VES is open to providers from these specialties
• Experience performing Compensation & Pension exams or similar medicolegal/occupational evaluations is highly desirable
• Provider must be located within a 50-mile radius of the assigned site (or use own office within 50 miles for own-office assignments)
• Comfort with PRN scheduling and the ability to perform interview-based and focused physical assessments
• Capacity to complete follow-up administrative work (reports, addendums, medical opinions) as part of the assignment
• Willingness to complete client-required training and onboarding prior to seeing Veterans

Education

• Medical degree (MD or DO) or equivalent clinical training in an accepted specialty preferred
• Relevant clinical training/experience in family medicine, internal medicine, orthopedics, or general medicine

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in interview-based medical evaluations and focused physical examinations
• Proficient with range of motion testing and muscle strength assessments
• Strong medical documentation skills with attention to detail
• Able to interpret diagnostic reports to inform exam findings
• Efficient time management to complete exams and required paperwork
• Clear communicator who can produce objective, well-reasoned medical opinions
