Phlebotomist

Location: Oxnard, CA

Shift Type: Monday-Friday, 8:00 PM - 4:30 AM or 5:00 PM - 1:30 AM (Night)

Hours per Week: 40

Candidate Pay Rate: $52 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

Collect blood specimens safely and efficiently using proper venipuncture techniques
Ensure patient comfort and provide clear, compassionate communication during draws
Accurately label, handle, and route specimens to the lab to maintain sample integrity
Document procedures and results promptly in Cerner and follow charting protocols
Adhere to infection control, safety, and quality standards at all times
Collaborate with nursing and lab staff to support timely patient care and workflow

Qualifications

Minimum 2 years of phlebotomy experience (explicitly required)
BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required
State phlebotomy certification or equivalent as applicable for licensure submission (License to Submit: Yes)
Comfortable with Cerner charting system (experience preferred)
Strong patient ID, specimen labeling, and chain-of-custody practices
Professional, punctual, and able to work evening/overnight shifts

Education

High school diploma or equivalent; phlebotomy certification preferred

Knowledge & Skills

Expertise in venipuncture, capillary and syringe draws
Familiarity with specimen handling, processing, and transportation requirements
Knowledge of infection prevention and standard precautions
Proficiency with electronic charting (Cerner) and accurate documentation
Excellent patient communication and comfort techniques
Ability to work effectively in an acute care/allied health setting
