Occupational Therapy Assistant - Long Term Care
Location: Oregon, Missouri
Start Date: 11-05-2026
End Date: 02-04-2027
Contract Type: Travel Contract
Shift Type: Monday-Friday, 8-hour days. Start time flexible (must begin before 6:00 AM and no later than 10:00 AM); consistent schedule to be communicated with Director of Rehab
Hours per Week: 40
Candidate Pay Rate: $45 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide rehabilitative, skilled, and medically necessary treatment interventions under the supervision and direction of an Occupational Therapist
- Administer ADL retraining, therapeutic activities, therapeutic exercises, modalities, and assistive device training to support functional goals
- Assess patient progress and communicate with the supervising Occupational Therapist to adjust treatment plans as needed
- Document all regulatory and clinically required information in the electronic documentation system and accurately record treatment minutes
- Report treatment effectiveness and provide input for discharge summaries according to regulatory requirements
- Consult with patients, families, caregivers, and other service providers to support functional outcomes and carryover
- Participate in patient care conferences, utilization review meetings, and rehabilitation planning meetings
- Support and supervise students under the guidance of the Occupational Therapist and assist with DME procurement when needed
Qualifications
- Active OTA license or registration. Missouri state license required; compact allowed
- Minimum 1 year OTA experience required; LTC or SNF experience required
- New graduates accepted if they have Level II clinical experience (no Level I observation only)
- Familiarity with NBCOT and AOTA practice standards and state required practice acts
- Strong documentation skills in electronic health record systems and accurate treatment minute recording
- Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors, interdisciplinary team members, patients, and families
Knowledge & Skills
- ADL retraining and therapeutic activities
- Therapeutic exercises and modalities
- Use of supportive and assistive devices and DME coordination
- Patient assessment, progress reporting, and treatment effectiveness documentation
- Electronic treatment documentation and accurate recording of treatment minutes
- Participation in utilization review, rehabilitation meetings, and patient care conferences
- Student supervision and mentorship skills
