Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform Compensation & Pension (C&P) exams and Separation Health Assessments for Veterans with care and professionalism
• Conduct interview-based medical evaluations and targeted physical assessments such as range of motion and muscle strength testing
• Complete timely, accurate medical documentation and full reports including any required addendums
• Follow non-treatment exam protocols — no prescribing or treatment provided during these assessments
• Complete required onboarding and training to meet program standards and ensure exam quality
• Coordinate with the VES team and follow client procedures to ensure Veteran-centered, compliant evaluations

Qualifications

• Active Nurse Practitioner (NP) license in state of practice (or ability to obtain state licensure)
• Clinical background in general medicine, family medicine, internal medicine, or orthopedic surgery preferred
• Experience with interview-based examinations and focused physical assessments (range of motion, muscle strength) preferred
• Proven ability to produce clear, thorough medical documentation and reports (including addendums)
• Own-office providers: must have a private office within a 50-mile radius of the listed city for local assignments
• Comfort performing one-time, non-treatment evaluations and following program protocols

Education

• Advanced practice degree appropriate for NP (e.g., MSN or DNP) and NP certification

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong skills in conducting interview-based medical exams and focused physical assessments
• Proficiency in medical documentation and report writing with attention to detail
• Understanding of non-treatment exam procedures and boundaries (no prescribing or treatment)
• Familiarity with Compensation & Pension (C&P) exam processes or willingness to learn
• Ability to manage follow-up administrative tasks such as addendums, medical opinions, and diagnostic reviews
