Geriatric Nursing Assistant

Location: Lanham, MD

Contract Type: Per-Diem

Shift Type: Varied/per-diem schedule, 11:00 PM - 7:00 AM NOC (night shift)

Hours per Week: 40

Candidate Pay Rate: $22 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

Provide compassionate daily care to geriatric residents, helping with activities of daily living
Assist nursing staff with patient transfers, positioning, and mobility support
Observe and report changes in residents’ conditions to the clinical team promptly
Maintain accurate, timely documentation of care and resident interactions
Support a safe, clean, and comfortable environment for residents
Build warm, trusting relationships with residents and their families

Qualifications

Current GNA certification (or state-equivalent certification) required
Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification preferred or willingness to obtain
Comfort working night shifts and adaptable to per-diem scheduling
Ability to pass background check and drug screening as required by facility
Strong interpersonal skills and a patient-centered approach to care

Education

High school diploma or GED preferred
Completion of an approved GNA training program

Knowledge & Skills

Knowledge of basic geriatric care principles and ADL assistance
Skillful in safe patient handling and transfer techniques
Good observational skills to identify changes in condition
Clear communication skills for collaborating with the care team and families
Familiarity with documentation practices in a clinical setting
