Geriatric Nursing Assistant
Location: Brooklyn Park, MD
Contract Type: Per-Diem
Shift Type: Not specified, 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM Day
Hours per Week: 40
Candidate Pay Rate: $16 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, hands-on care to residents, focusing on dignity and comfort
- Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, and toileting
- Take and record vital signs and communicate changes in condition to nursing staff
- Support mobility and safe transfers, using proper body mechanics and assistive devices
- Maintain accurate documentation and report observations promptly
- Help create a warm, social environment by engaging residents in conversation and activities
Qualifications
- Current GNA certification (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) or state-equivalent credential
- Basic life support (BLS) / CPR certification preferred or willing to obtain
- Demonstrated ability to provide patient-centered care in a long-term care setting
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work well on a care team
- Background check and any required state licensure/clearances completed
Education
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Completion of an approved GNA training program
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of geriatrics and common age-related conditions
- Skill assisting with activities of daily living and mobility support
- Familiarity with infection control practices and safe patient handling
- Comfortable with basic charting and reporting clinical observations
- Empathy, patience, and strong interpersonal skills
