Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate assistance with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, toileting, feeding)
• Support resident mobility and transfers safely and respectfully
• Monitor residents’ condition and document changes in behavior or health status
• Take and record vital signs and report concerns promptly to nursing staff
• Assist with meals and ensure dietary needs and preferences are respected
• Foster social engagement by encouraging participation in activities and conversation
• Maintain a clean, safe environment and follow infection control practices
• Communicate clearly and kindly with residents, families, and the care team

Qualifications

• Valid GNA (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) certification or state equivalent
• Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or willing to obtain
• Must meet state registry or facility requirements for nursing assistants
• Ability to pass background check and drug screen as required
• Up-to-date immunizations per facility policy (e.g., TB screening, flu)
• Strong communication skills and genuine compassion for older adults
• Previous long-term care or skilled nursing experience is a plus

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Completion of an approved GNA training program or equivalent certification

Knowledge & Skills

• Understanding of elder care best practices and dignity-centered care
• Basic clinical skills: vital signs, charting, ADL support
• Safe resident transfer and mobility assistance techniques
• Infection control and proper PPE use
• Good time management and the ability to multitask during busy shifts
• Teamwork, patience, and strong interpersonal skills
