Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, skilled occupational therapy interventions within the COTA scope to help patients regain independence
• Collaborate with OTs, nurses, and the interdisciplinary team to create and execute meaningful care plans
• Perform assessments and document patient progress clearly and promptly in the chart
• Coach and educate patients and families on techniques to improve daily living skills
• Adapt treatment plans based on patient goals and safety considerations to achieve measurable outcomes
• Maintain compliance with facility policies, professional standards, and safety protocols

Qualifications

• Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) credential required
• Ability to practice in California (state licensure or certification as applicable)
• Comfortable providing day-shift clinical care in an outpatient or facility setting
• Strong communication and teamwork skills; friendly, patient-focused attitude
• Current CPR/BLS certification or willingness to obtain upon hire

Education

• Associate degree in Occupational Therapy Assistant or equivalent (required)
• COTA certification and California eligibility required

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of ADL/IADL training and adaptive equipment
• Skilled in therapeutic techniques appropriate for the COTA scope of practice
• Good documentation skills and familiarity with electronic medical records
• Ability to assess patient needs and implement individualized treatment plans
• Strong interpersonal skills for patient and family education
