Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist patients with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, toileting, mobility) with dignity and compassion
• Measure and document vital signs and report any changes to the nursing team promptly
• Support nursing procedures and accurately maintain patient records and charts
• Maintain a safe, clean environment and follow infection control protocols at all times
• Work collaboratively with nursing staff and facility personnel to ensure continuity of care
• Follow facility policies and contribute to a respectful, secure correctional healthcare setting

Qualifications

• Current California CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) certification required
• Active CPR/BLS certification preferred or ability to obtain prior to start
• Ability to pass background check and facility clearance for work at Pelican Bay State Prison
• Comfortable working in a correctional healthcare environment; prior correctional experience is a plus
• Strong communication skills, reliability, and a patient-centered attitude
• Willingness to complete a 2-3 week orientation

Education

• Completion of a state-approved CNA training program
• High school diploma or GED preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid understanding of ADLs, patient hygiene, and mobility assistance
• Basic vital signs measurement and clinical observation skills
• Knowledge of infection prevention and control best practices
• Accurate documentation and charting skills
• Ability to follow safety protocols specific to correctional facilities
• Teamwork, clear communication, and de-escalation fundamentals
