Roles & Responsibilities

• Collect and accurately document patient information and maintain orderly charts
• Ensure medication and immunization records are current and complete
• Perform specimen collection and Point of Care Testing (POCT) following protocol
• Prepare patients and set up equipment for routine exams, minor procedures, and radiology per competency
• Administer immunizations and injections as ordered by the provider
• Assist providers and clinic nurses with patient care, treatments, and minor office surgeries
• Observe patients for changes in condition, report concerns, and respond appropriately
• Transport patients within the facility as needed and help maintain clinic flow
• Participate in team meetings, contribute to unit goals, and support cross-coverage efforts

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) OR EMT III required
• Current Alaska certification OR Alaska Paramedic certification OR Nursing Degree from an accredited institution may substitute
• Experience in a healthcare setting preferred
• Comfortable using EMR systems and basic medical equipment (BP cuff, pulse oximeter, EKG, cardiac monitor, manual defibrillator)

Education

• High school diploma or GED required
• Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) OR EMT III preferred; Alaska certification/paramedic certification or Nursing Degree accepted as substitutes

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficient in patient charting and documentation
• Skilled in specimen collection, labeling, and transport
• Experience with Point of Care Testing (POCT) and vaccinations/immunizations
• Able to assist with radiology exams per protocol and clinic procedures
• Strong customer service, communication, and teamwork skills
• Computer application skills sufficient to use medical databases and EMR systems
• Ability to recognize and appropriately respond to emergency situations
