Roles & Responsibilities

• Prepare patients and assist the RN in room setup and patient preparation to ensure safe, efficient procedures
• Confirm documentation and consent are complete prior to procedure start time
• Assist physicians during diagnostic and interventional cardiac and peripheral catheterizations
• Obtain hemostasis safely after procedures and monitor vascular access sites
• Operate and accurately utilize fluoroscopy/x-ray equipment during procedures
• Ensure radiation safety compliance for patients and staff throughout procedures
• Accurately record and document all procedures in the MacLab system
• Perform procedure room turnover following infection control protocols after each case
• Participate in education, professional development, and pursue specialty certification (RCIS)
• Administer intra-coronary medication per Bayhealth and unit policies and perform other duties within scope

Qualifications

• Associate Degree in Radiologic Sciences or graduation from an accredited Cardiovascular Technology program required
• RCIS required if graduate of a Cardiovascular Technology program; ARRT (RT) required if graduate of a Radiologic Technologist program (obtain within 4 months if not already held)
• ACLS and BLS required (BLS within 90 days if not already obtained)
• Eighteen (18) months experience in diagnostic radiology OR completion of an accredited radiologic technology or Cardiovascular Technology program with a letter of recommendation
• Preferred: 2 years of Cardiac Cath Lab experience performing diagnostic, interventional, and electrophysiology procedures

Education

• Associate Degree in Radiologic Sciences OR Associate Degree/graduate from an accredited Cardiovascular Technology program required
• Bachelor's degree in Radiologic Technology or Cardiovascular Technology preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheterizations and peripheral vascular procedures
• Fluoroscopy and x-ray equipment operation and safety
• Procedure documentation in MacLab
• Radiation safety practices and compliance
• Hemostasis techniques and vascular access management
• Experience in electrophysiology or interventional lab processes (preferred)
• Strong teamwork, patient preparation, and procedure room turnover skills
