Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and manage complex wounds and ostomies using evidence-based practice
• Perform comprehensive Braden scale assessments and develop individualized prevention plans
• Provide ostomy care and instruction including colostomy, ileostomy, and specialty stomas
• Deliver G-tube/J-tube feeding and site care and supervise related clinical tasks
• Document thoroughly and accurately in Epic to ensure continuity of care
• Teach and coach patients and families on wound and ostomy self-care with compassion
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate optimal patient outcomes
• Apply infection control and isolation precautions consistently to protect patients and staff

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (eligible to practice in Washington)
• WOCN certification is a hard stop and required
• Minimum two years of inpatient hospital experience (explicit requirement)
• Experience charting in Epic is required
• BLS certification preferred
• Comfort working with all age groups from neonates to geriatrics; pediatric experience preferred
• Demonstrated skill with sharp debridement, wound VAC therapy, and advanced wound dressings preferred

Education

• Active RN license required
• WOCN certification required (hard stop)
• BLS certification preferred; additional wound/ostomy certifications a plus

Knowledge & Skills

• Wound assessment and pressure ulcer staging (Stage I-IV)
• Ostomy management including colostomy and ileostomy care
• Braden scale assessment and ulcer risk/prevention tools for adults and pediatrics
• G-tube and J-tube care and feeding site maintenance
• Vacuum Assisted Closure (Wound VAC) and wound vac therapy
• Sharp and mechanical debridement techniques and wound culture collection
• Infection control, isolation precautions, and PPE best practices
• Familiarity with advanced dressings: hydrogels, hydrocolloids, alginates, silver products, and skin substitutes
• Knowledge of peripheral arterial disease assessment (ABI), neuropathic and venous ulcer management
• Patient and family teaching with strong communication skills
