Shift Type: Monday-Friday, 6:45 AM - 3:15 PM OR 9:00 AM - 5:30 PM (8-hour day shifts); Night/On-call coverage 3:15 PM - 6:45 AM (1-2 times/week) with weekend on-call rotation approximately every 3-4 weekends (Fri 3:15 PM - Mon 6:45 AM); rotating day shifts with on-call and weekend/holiday rotation

Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality perioperative nursing care in the operating room for General/Robotics or Ortho/Neuro case mixes
• Support robotic-assisted procedures using systems such as Davinci XI and ION when assigned
• Collaborate with surgeons, OR techs, charge nurses, and the care team to ensure efficient case flow and patient safety
• Respond to on-call notifications within the established 15-minute response time and follow post-call reprieve protocols
• Float to other specialty OR areas or to the floor as needed, including 1:1 sitter or helping hands duties
• Document care accurately in EPIC and follow hospital policies for charting and patient handoffs
• Participate in orientation, buddy call shifts, and ongoing training to maintain competence across assigned specialties

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice
• Minimum 3 years of OR nursing experience (must have either 3 years Ortho/Neuro OR 3 years General/Robotics OR equivalent applicable experience)
• BLS certification required
• Proficiency or experience with EPIC charting system
• Experience with Open bellies, GYN, Davinci Xi and Endo preferred for General/Robotics track; Ortho/Neuro candidates must have experience with total joints, arthroscopy, spinal fusions, microdiscectomy and related procedures
• Comfort and willingness to float and cross-train across specialties and to perform floor 1:1 sitter or helping hands duties when needed
• Ability to meet a 15-minute on-call response time and participate in weekend and holiday rotations

Education

• Active RN license required
• BSN not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Perioperative nursing principles and sterile technique
• Familiarity with robotic platforms: Davinci XI and ION robotic cases
• Experience with Stryker towers and endoscopy/GI scope procedures
• Clinical judgment across pediatric through geriatric patient populations
• Case coordination in a high-volume OR environment (25-30 cases/day average)
• Strong teamwork, communication, and ability to work with charge nurses and OR techs
• Comfortable using EPIC for documentation and workflow management
