Roles & Responsibilities

• Monitor cardio-pulmonary rhythms remotely via a centralized monitoring station to keep patients safe
• Recognize, record, and escalate arrhythmias and dangerous rhythm changes quickly and accurately
• Notify RN staff promptly following established clinical protocols to ensure rapid response
• Oversee telemetry for up to 45–60 patients using advanced monitoring technology
• Interpret EKG rhythms accurately and take appropriate clinical actions when needed
• Follow communication protocols during routine and emergency situations to support team coordination
• Support patient safety initiatives and contribute to department performance metrics
• Maintain accurate documentation using the Cerner charting system for clear clinical records

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of recent Telemetry/Monitor Tech experience (3 years preferred)
• Graduation from an accredited program that includes EKG interpretation
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required
• Experience with Cerner charting and electronic documentation preferred
• Proven ability to monitor large patient loads (experience monitoring 45–60 patients is a plus)
• Strong clinical judgment, clear communication skills, and ability to follow protocols

Education

• Graduation from an accredited program including EKG Interpretation

Knowledge & Skills

• EKG interpretation and arrhythmia recognition
• Hands-on telemetry monitoring and alarm management
• Proficiency with Cerner or similar electronic charting systems
• Clear, timely clinical communication and escalation
• Attention to detail and accurate documentation
• Comfort working in a virtual/centralized monitoring environment
• Ability to prioritize multiple alerts and maintain situational awareness
