Roles & Responsibilities

Provide direct, high-quality patient care to medical/surgical and critically ill patients from admission through discharge.
Operate and manage advanced medical equipment, including mechanical ventilators and multiple IV pumps.
Assess and manage invasive devices such as central lines, arterial (A-) lines, chest tubes, and other invasive lines.
Serve as a clinical leader on the unit: mentor and precept staff, give direction to RNs, LPNs, CNAs and ancillary staff.
Implement established policies and procedures with minimal supervision and escalate care when needed.
Coordinate and execute discharge planning to ensure safe transitions and continuity of care.
Collaborate with providers, charge nurse, supervisors and leadership to optimize patient outcomes.

Qualifications

Current Montana RN licensure (required).
BLS and ACLS required; PALS, EPNC, TNCC preferred.
Recent experience in Critical Care Nursing and practice in an advanced medical/surgical unit required.
Demonstrated ability to precept and provide clinical leadership on the unit.

Education

Graduate of an accredited nursing program (Degree in Nursing).

Knowledge & Skills

Strong knowledge of advanced nursing principles and procedures applicable to critical care.
Proficiency with mechanical ventilation and ventilator-dependent patient care.
Skillful in managing central/arterial/invasive lines and chest tube care.
Comfortable operating multiple IV pumps and other advanced medical equipment.
Good communication, delegation and interdisciplinary collaboration skills.
