Shift Type: Variable/rotating shifts including nights and weekends. Primary schedule includes Night 4x10 (6:30 PM - 7:00 AM); call required Monday-Friday 9:00 PM - 6:30 AM; weekend coverage includes 12-hour day shifts (6:30 AM - 7:00 PM) and 12-hour night shifts (7:00 PM - 6:30 AM) as needed. Rotating shifts including weekends and holiday coverage.

Hours per Week: 36

Candidate Pay Rate: $57 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain sterile field and surgical instrumentation using strict aseptic technique
• Assist surgical team during complex neurosurgery, spine, trauma and bariatric cases
• Process, sterilize and inspect instruments and scopes to ensure patient safety
• Anticipate surgeon needs and manage instrumentation for efficient case flow
• Perform specimen handling and labeling accurately to support correct diagnostics
• Participate in Universal Protocol (time out) and enforce isolation precautions/PPE requirements
• Support orientation and training by sharing best practices in a teaching hospital environment

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of Surgical Technologist experience required
• Level II Trauma experience required; Level I Trauma experience preferred
• Proven experience in Neurosurgery, Spine, Complex Orthopedics and Complex General Surgery (including Bariatrics)
• BLS certification required
• Epic experience preferred
• Prior travel assignment experience preferred and teaching hospital experience required
• Comfortable with on-call responsibilities, weekend coverage and varied shift lengths (8/10/12-hour)

Knowledge & Skills

• Aseptic technique and instrument processing
• Sterilization/disinfection and care of scopes & fiber optic equipment
• Specimen handling and accurate labeling
• Universal Protocol (time out) and OR safety practices
• Wound care, suture removal and PPE/isolation precautions
• Familiarity with robotics (Da Vinci systems), trauma and transplant procedures
• Experience with high-acuity cases: craniotomies, spinal fusions, bariatric and transplant operations
