Shift Type: Rotating 24-hour clinical shifts with 24-hour on-call (10-minute response). Schedule pattern: 24 hours on, 24 hours on-call, 24 hours on, 24 hours on-call, then 96 hours off; rotating day/night coverage; weekends and holidays as scheduled in rotation. Guaranteed hours noted as 36 hours/week.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide professional, compassionate ALS-level care to patients across the lifespan — kids to seniors
• Perform thorough assessments and document findings and interventions promptly and accurately
• Administer medications using the five Patient Rights and titrate drips per protocols
• Supervise and ensure the safety of EMTs, staff, patients and bystanders during calls and transfers
• Coordinate patient transfers and communicate patient status at handoff to receiving teams
• Operate and troubleshoot pre-hospital equipment (CPAP, BiPAP, ventilators) and chart in PointClickCare as required
• Adjust workload dynamically and communicate staffing needs to supervisors to maintain safe operations

Qualifications

• Active Paramedic License (must have MN Paramedic License)
• NREMT-P required
• ACLS, BLS and PALS certifications current
• Must have either an ND license or a compact license with proof of “Privilege to Practice” in addition to MN license
• Minimum ~1 year experience providing ALS-level care (experience with titratable drips required)
• Ability to titrate common drips (nitroglycerin, heparin, IV fluids, vasopressors)
• Preferred: intubation experience
• Must meet the 50-mile radius rule and may not be currently employed full-time/part-time/PRN with any CommonSpirit facility (including CHI/Dignity)

Education

• Paramedic certification/license required
• High school diploma or equivalent (standard for paramedic practice); BSN not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Patient assessment and critical thinking in high-acuity situations
• Medication administration using the five Patient Rights and titration of drips
• Pre-hospital and interfacility transfer care, including ALS interventions
• Supervision and delegation to EMTs and coordination with ancillary departments
• Familiarity with respiratory support equipment: CPAP, BiPAP and ventilators
• Experience with charting systems such as PointClickCare (PCC)
• Strong communication skills for concise patient handoffs and documentation
