Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, high-quality nursing care to adults on Medical-Surgical/Telemetry and Behavioral Health units
• Continuously monitor cardiac rhythms and respond to dysrhythmias and cardiac events
• Administer medications and manage IV/central/PICC lines according to protocols
• Perform tracheostomy, feeding tube, wound care/Vac and other specialty procedures as needed
• Document accurately and efficiently in Epic to keep the care team aligned
• Collaborate with PT, Respiratory, Pharmacy, Social Work and Rapid Response teams for coordinated care
• Use therapeutic communication and safety interventions for patients with altered mental status or behavioral health needs
• Float between Betsy and Central Harnett units as staffing needs require

Qualifications

• Active RN license (pending licenses not accepted)
• BLS required
• ACLS preferred
• Minimum MS/Telemetry nursing experience (posting indicates 2 years MS/Tele experience)
• Travel experience required (posting lists travel experience required); note: first-time travelers are also listed as accepted
• Comfortable with telemetry/cardiac monitoring, emergency response and behavioral health patient needs
• Willingness to work nights and every-other-weekend schedule

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry and remote monitoring
• Medical-Surgical (MS) nursing
• Behavioral health and therapeutic communication
• Epic charting system proficiency
• Cardiac monitoring and EKG/dysrhythmia interpretation
• IV therapy, central/PICC line care and arterial line management
• Tracheostomy and feeding tube care management
• Wound care / Wound VAC experience
• Heparin protocols, PCA and blood product administration
• Familiarity with restraints, virtual safety cameras and de-escalation techniques
