Roles & Responsibilities

• Manage ventilators and lead evidence-based ventilator strategies to optimize patient outcomes
• Perform airway management and tracheostomy care including suctioning and trach collar management
• Administer respiratory medications and set up/operate medication delivery systems safely
• Interpret arterial blood gases (ABGs) and recommend adjustments to respiratory plans
• Respond to codes and rapid response calls as a skilled respiratory clinician
• Troubleshoot high pressure alarms and lead weaning from mechanical ventilation
• Float between units (ED, pediatrics, trauma, ICU) and provide adaptable, high-quality care
• Document care accurately in Epic and collaborate with the interdisciplinary team

Qualifications

• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential required
• Valid Washington state respiratory license required
• BLS required; ACLS and PALS preferred
• Minimum: 2 years of clinical respiratory experience (as indicated in job details)
• Comfortable floating between units (ED, pediatrics, trauma, floor care) and responding to codes/rapid response
• Familiarity with Epic charting preferred

Education

• RRT credential (completion of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program is reflected by RRT)

Knowledge & Skills

• Advanced ventilator management and weaning protocols
• Airway management including extubation, nasal/oral airway placement, suctioning
• Tracheostomy care and trach collar management
• Interpretation of arterial blood gases (ABGs)
• Experience with BiPAP, CPAP, troubleshooting high-pressure alarms
• Familiarity with inhaled therapies (INo, Flolan) and a range of respiratory meds
• Comfort working in Emergency Department, Pediatrics, and Trauma settings
• Experience with multiple ventilator platforms (e.g., Puritan Bennett, Draeger, Trilogy, LTV1250)
