Roles & Responsibilities

• Recover patients safely and compassionately in Phase 1 PACU, coordinating closely with anesthesia
• Perform Aldrete scoring and clinical assessments to determine readiness for transfer
• Maintain and manage patient airways and provide immediate response to life-saving situations when required
• Administer medications and treatments per policy and document thoroughly in Meditech
• Continuously monitor cardiac rhythms and intervene or escalate based on clinical findings
• Provide 1:1 post-anesthesia nursing care with close observation of vitals and recovery progression
• Collaborate with OR teams and participate in smooth handoffs from the operating room
• Complete unit-specific orientation (3-5 shifts) and participate in buddy-call support as needed

Qualifications

• Active RN licensure (state of practice) required
• BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA), and PALS (AHA) required prior to start
• Minimum 1 year of clinical nursing experience required; 2 years preferred
• Previous travel nurse experience is preferred but not mandatory
• Comfortable with post-anesthesia recovery, Aldrete scoring, airway management, and cardiac rhythm interpretation
• Proficiency with Meditech or similar EMR systems preferred

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Diploma in Nursing required; BSN preferred
• Active RN license in good standing

Knowledge & Skills

• Post-anesthesia recovery and Phase 1 PACU processes
• Aldrete scoring and patient readiness assessment
• Airway management techniques and oxygen therapy
• Medication administration and adherence to protocol
• Cardiac rhythm recognition and interpretation
• One-to-one patient monitoring and critical thinking under pressure
• Familiarity with endoscopy and common OR case types (general, OB/GYN, ortho, podiatry)
• Strong communication and teamwork with anesthesia and OR staff
