Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, hands-on care to geriatric residents in their daily routines
- Assist with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, toileting, and feeding
- Support safe mobility and fall prevention measures while encouraging resident independence
- Monitor residents for changes in condition and promptly report observations to nursing staff
- Document care accurately and maintain clear communication with the care team
- Follow infection control, safety protocols, and facility policies to protect residents
- Build positive relationships with residents and families to enhance their quality of life
Qualifications
- Current Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) certification required
- Active placement on the state nursing assistant registry as applicable
- CPR/BLS certification required or willingness to obtain
- Previous experience in long-term care or geriatric settings preferred
- Strong communication, patience, and a compassionate attitude
- Ability to pass background check and drug screening as required by the facility
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent
- GNA certification required
Knowledge & Skills
- Hands-on resident care and support with activities of daily living
- Basic vital signs monitoring and reporting changes in resident status
- Safe transfer and mobility assistance techniques
- Resident hygiene, grooming, and feeding assistance
- Accurate charting and documentation practices
- Infection control and standard precautions
- Effective communication with residents, families, and interdisciplinary teams
