Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality critical care nursing for MICU/MSICU patients, managing complex, high-acuity cases
• Manage mechanical ventilation and advanced life support interventions with skill and confidence
• Perform bedside procedures such as central line placements, intubations, dialysis catheter placements, thoracentesis and cardioversions as required
• Assess patients continuously, develop and implement individualized care plans, and document clinical findings in Meditech
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including physicians, respiratory therapists and dialysis teams to optimize patient outcomes
• Triage and assign care according to patient acuity and unit staffing needs
• Mentor colleagues, communicate clearly with families, and advocate for patient safety and comfort

Qualifications

• Active RN license in Texas required; temporary licenses will not be accepted
• BLS and ACLS certifications required and current
• Minimum 2+ years MICU or MSICU experience required
• CCRN preferred and will be viewed favorably
• Comfortable and experienced with ICU procedures and advanced monitoring

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong knowledge of mechanical ventilation and ventilator management
• Experience with Meditech documentation system
• Familiarity with dialysis equipment such as NXStage
• Experience with Arctic Sun and GE Cardiac Output monitoring
• Skilled in critical care procedures: central lines, intubation, dialysis catheter placement, thoracentesis and cardioversion
• Excellent assessment, prioritization and acuity-based assignment skills
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary ICU environment
