Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, high-quality progressive care to telemetry and step-down patients, ensuring safety and excellent outcomes
• Continuously monitor telemetry and promptly recognize and respond to cardiac or clinical changes
• Document assessments, interventions and patient progress accurately in Cerner
• Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers and the interdisciplinary team to coordinate patient-centered care
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, medications and discharge plans to support smooth transitions
• Prioritize and manage multiple patients in a fast-paced, quick-turnover PCU environment
• Float to other units as needed and adapt quickly while maintaining standards of care
• Maintain required certifications and participate in unit-based improvement efforts

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (state authorization required for practice)
• Minimum 2+ years progressive care/PCU experience
• Telemetry competency is required — you read the monitor and act confidently
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Experience with Cerner or similar EMR preferred
• Comfort with quick turnover patients and variable acuity
• Team player with a positive attitude and strong communication skills
• Willingness to float to other units and work every other weekend

Education

• Active RN license required
• ADN or BSN in Nursing preferred (not strictly required unless specified by employer)

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry monitoring and interpretation
• Progressive care/step-down nursing practices
• EMR documentation in Cerner
• Patient prioritization and time management in a fast-paced unit
• Cardiac rhythm recognition and early intervention
• Team communication, patient education and discharge planning
• Infection control and bedside monitoring equipment familiarity
