Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, compassionate care to adult acute care and perioperative patients in the Med-Surg/OR setting
• Perform thorough patient assessments and implement individualized nursing plans
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and the interdisciplinary team to ensure safe perioperative transitions
• Administer medications, monitor patient status, and document care accurately in the EHR
• Respond to emergencies and use ACLS and NIHSS skills when indicated to optimize patient outcomes
• Mentor and support nurse assistants and newer staff, promoting best practices and a patient-first culture
• Support discharge planning and patient education to promote recovery and continuity of care

Qualifications

• Current, unencumbered Oregon RN license required upon submission
• Healthcare Provider level BLS required
• AHA ACLS required
• NIHSS certification required
• Medical-Surgical Specialty Certification (CMSRN) strongly encouraged and preferred
• Comfortable working nights and rotating weekends with strong critical thinking and prioritization skills

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN) or equivalent

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid knowledge of adult acute care and perioperative/operating room workflows
• Strong assessment and clinical decision-making skills for med-surg and post-operative patients
• Familiarity with ACLS protocols and NIHSS stroke assessment
• Proficiency with electronic health records and accurate clinical documentation
• Excellent communication, teamwork, and patient education abilities
• Ability to handle emergent situations calmly and effectively
