Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess individualized patient needs and develop thoughtful, evidence-based care plans
• Implement and evaluate nursing interventions to achieve the best outcomes
• Provide clinical leadership to the patient care team during your assigned shift
• Perform focused patient assessments and communicate findings clearly to the care team
• Supervise, mentor and support bedside staff to maintain high-quality care
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate care and transitions
• Document accurately and timely in Cerner to ensure continuity and compliance
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and uphold patient safety standards

Qualifications

• Active Illinois RN license required (Nursys must indicate Active/IL license)
• Minimum 3+ years of Med Surg (MS) nursing experience — required
• Current American Heart Association BLS required
• ACLS (AHA) required within 30 days of start
• Supervisory experience with 2 completed supervisory reference forms (dates of employment listed)
• Work history and current skills checklist (pertinent to Med Surg) required
• Applicants must have a permanent address outside a 50-mile radius of the facility (local candidates not eligible)
• Applicants who were direct employees of the facility within the last 2 years are not eligible

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong Med Surg clinical knowledge and patient assessment skills
• Clinical leadership and supervisory capability on shift
• Proficiency with Cerner EMR for documentation and orders
• Care planning, implementation and evaluation expertise
• Excellent communication, prioritization and teamwork skills
• Familiarity with infection control practices and hospital policies
