Roles & Responsibilities

• Greet and room patients, take accurate vital signs and record current medications
• Prepare patients for exams by obtaining histories and performing preliminary physical checks
• Set up exam and procedure rooms tailored to patient visit needs
• Assist providers with OB/GYN procedures such as PAPs, Coplos, Leeps, D&Cs, EMBs, IUD insertions/removals, Nexplanon and NSTs
• Perform venipuncture, blood draws and prepare lab specimens with proper labeling and handling
• Administer immunizations, injections, or oral medications as directed
• Document visits and patient history thoroughly in the medical record (Epic preferred)
• Coordinate referrals, assist with insurance/referral processes and help patients navigate benefit plans
• Clean and reprocess equipment and supplies following department guidelines
• Handle patient communication tasks like telephone triage, refill requests and follow-up calls

Qualifications

• Medical Assistant Diploma from a DAPIP-accredited program (required)
• Minimum 2 years as a Medical Assistant in an outpatient clinic or medical office
• At least 1 year of experience working in an OB/GYN setting with required procedure exposure
• Proficiency in venipuncture/phlebotomy, specimen collection and lab prep
• BLS certification (AHA or ARC)
• High school diploma or GED
• Flu vaccination required (no exemptions/no declinations)
• Experience with medical insurance, referral processes and benefit plans
• Comfortable floating to other clinics as needed

Education

• Medical Assistant Diploma (DAPIP-accredited program)
• High School Diploma or GED

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong skills in vital signs, patient rooming and history documentation
• Hands-on experience with OB/GYN procedures (PAP, Coplo, Leep, D&C, EMB, IUD/Nexplanon, NST)
• Phlebotomy, blood draws and specimen collection best practices
• Immunizations and injections administration
• Proficiency with Epic or similar EHR/charting systems
• Ability to set up exam/procedure rooms and maintain aseptic technique
• Familiarity with insurance, referral workflows and benefit plan processes
• Telephone triage, pharmacy refill coordination and basic office duties
