Roles & Responsibilities

• Take and record vital signs accurately to inform clinical decisions
• Assist clinicians with mental health patient care, preparing patients and equipment
• Collect specimens and perform basic clinical procedures following protocol
• Document patient encounters in the electronic health record with clarity and professionalism
• Support a safe, respectful environment for patients in a behavioral health setting
• Communicate clearly with the care team and patients to ensure coordinated care
• Be flexible and open to training opportunities to grow your skill set

Qualifications

• Certified Medical Assistant (preferred) or Certified Nursing Assistant
• Current BLS/CPR certification (or willingness to obtain)
• Experience or comfort working in a mental health setting is a plus
• Ability to pass required facility screenings and background checks
• Reliable, punctual, and ready to work weekdays with no pre-planned days off during the assignment
• Willingness to be flexible for training as needed

Education

• High school diploma or GED required
• Completion of a Medical Assistant program or CNA program required

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong patient care fundamentals: vitals, specimen collection, basic procedures
• Familiarity with infection control and clinical safety practices
• Comfortable with electronic health records and accurate documentation
• Good communication and de-escalation skills in mental health situations
• Team-oriented mindset with the ability to follow clinical protocols
• Adaptability to work in a correctional facility environment
