Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide timely mental health assessments and evidence-based individual therapy to incarcerated adults
- Develop and monitor individualized treatment plans that promote safety and rehabilitation
- Lead group therapy sessions focused on coping, behavior change, and relapse prevention
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary correctional staff to coordinate care and ensure continuity
- Conduct risk assessments and crisis interventions as needed to maintain a safe environment
- Maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation in accordance with facility and regulatory standards
- Participate in case conferences and contribute clinical expertise to multidisciplinary planning
Qualifications
- Valid California license as a Psychologist, or active LMFT, LPCC, or LCSW license (PSYL, LMFT, LPCC, LCSW accepted)
- Ability to obtain and pass required facility background checks and security clearances
- Experience providing clinical mental health services, ideally in forensic, correctional, or institutional settings preferred
- Strong clinical assessment, documentation, and crisis management skills
- Current CPR/First Aid per facility requirements if applicable
- Professional liability insurance as required by employer or contract terms
Education
- Doctoral degree in Psychology preferred for Psychologist role
- Master's degree in Counseling, Social Work, or Marriage and Family Therapy accepted for LMFT/LPCC/LCSW clinicians
Knowledge & Skills
- Skilled in evidence-based therapeutic approaches and group facilitation
- Proficient in mental health assessment, diagnosis, and treatment planning
- Experienced with crisis intervention and risk assessment in high-acuity settings
- Excellent documentation and case management abilities
- Able to work collaboratively with custody and healthcare staff in a correctional environment
- Culturally competent and able to engage diverse populations with respect
