Roles & Responsibilities

• Manage ventilator settings and perform ventilator management for adult and pediatric patients with precision and care
• Provide respiratory therapy services across critical care units, NICU/Peds and transport situations
• Perform assessments, monitoring and airway management to support optimal patient outcomes
• Collaborate closely with physicians, nurses and multidisciplinary teams to develop and adjust treatment plans
• Document interventions and patient status accurately and promptly in Cerner EMR
• Operate and troubleshoot mechanical ventilators and high-flow oxygen devices (including GE R860, Draeger infant/peds vents, Newport HT70, V60, Vapotherm, Comfort Flow)
• Float to all critical care units and floors as needed, adapting quickly to new teams and challenges
• Educate patients and families on respiratory care, equipment use and discharge needs with empathy

Qualifications

• North Carolina Respiratory License (required)
• RRT (Registered Respiratory Therapist) - required
• BLS, ACLS, PALS - required
• Minimum 2+ years of respiratory therapy experience, ideally with critical care exposure
• NRP preferred
• Comfortable using Cerner EMR and experienced with mechanical ventilators and high-flow devices
• Ability to work rotating nights and frequent weekend shifts as part of the schedule

Knowledge & Skills

• Ventilator management and troubleshooting
• Experience with GE R860, Draeger infant/peds vents, Newport HT70 transport vent
• Familiarity with V60 non-invasive device, Vapotherm and Comfort Flow high-flow systems
• Critical care respiratory protocols and procedures
• Proficient documentation in Cerner EMR
• Strong assessment, airway management and patient education skills
• Ability to work effectively in fast-paced, multidisciplinary critical care settings
