Roles & Responsibilities

• Manage ventilated neonatal and pediatric patients independently using Servo-U and other ventilators
• Admit and assess vented patients to the NICU/PICU and develop appropriate respiratory plans
• Deliver and monitor heliox therapy, non-invasive ventilation (biPAP/CPAP), and Bubble CPAP
• Perform high-frequency ventilation (HFOV/HFJV) and administer inhaled nitric oxide safely
• Document assessments, interventions and ventilator settings accurately in Epic
• Collaborate closely with neonatology, PICU teams, nurses and unit techs to optimize patient outcomes
• Maintain, troubleshoot and ensure proper setup of respiratory equipment and supplies
• Support patient- and family-centered care with clear communication and clinical education

Qualifications

• Active RRT credential (Registered Respiratory Therapist)
• PALS certification required
• 1+ year Neonatal ICU or PICU Critical Care experience (must have)
• Proven ability to independently admit and manage ventilated pediatric patients
• Experience with Servo-U and Drager VN500 preferred
• Comfortable with non-invasive and invasive respiratory modalities and advanced therapies
• Familiarity with Epic for clinical documentation
• Current state respiratory licensure as required by assignment (verify state requirements)

Knowledge & Skills

• Ventilator management and advanced ventilator modes (HFOV, HFJV)
• Servo-U and Drager VN500 operation and troubleshooting
• Non-invasive ventilation: biPAP, CPAP, Bubble CPAP
• Heliox therapy setup and monitoring
• Use of Vaportherm and delivery of inhaled nitric oxide
• Neonatal and pediatric critical care principles and patient ratios
• Epic documentation and electronic charting workflows
• Strong interdisciplinary communication and clinical decision-making
