Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, patient-centered nursing care on the medical-surgical unit
• Assess and monitor patient condition, recognizing changes and escalating promptly
• Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately
• Document patient care and status in the electronic health record clearly and timely
• Coordinate care with physicians, therapists, and interdisciplinary team members
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments, and discharge planning
• Respond to emergencies and assist with procedures as needed
• Contribute to unit quality improvement and a positive patient experience

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Alabama (required)
• Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required; ACLS and other certifications a plus
• Clinical experience or strong interest in Medical-Surgical nursing
• Comfortable working 12-hour shifts and functioning in a fast-paced inpatient setting
• Strong communication, critical thinking, and teamwork skills
• Up-to-date immunizations and ability to meet facility onboarding requirements

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required or Nursing diploma
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Patient assessment and clinical observation skills
• Medication administration and IV therapy fundamentals
• Wound care and basic procedures common to med-surg units
• Electronic health record documentation and care planning
• Ability to prioritize, multitask, and manage time effectively
• Collaborative approach to working with nursing and interdisciplinary teams
