Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality respiratory care and interventions for acute patients
• Operate and manage ventilators and advanced airway equipment safely
• Perform respiratory assessments and monitor patient response to therapy
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and multidisciplinary teams to optimize care plans
• Deliver patient and family education on treatment plans and home care
• Document clinical findings, treatments, and patient progress accurately and timely
• Respond quickly and competently to respiratory emergencies and code situations

Qualifications

• Current Louisiana Respiratory Care Practitioner license (or eligibility to obtain)
• Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) or Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) preferred
• BLS required; ACLS and PALS preferred or available through employer
• Clinical experience in an acute care setting preferred (new grads welcome to apply if supported)
• Strong communication skills and a team-first attitude

Education

• Associate Degree in Respiratory Therapy or completion of an accredited respiratory program
• Completion of credentialing exams leading to CRT or RRT

Knowledge & Skills

• Ventilator management and troubleshooting
• Arterial blood gas (ABG) sampling and interpretation
• Airway management, oxygen therapy, and aerosolized medication delivery
• Patient assessment and monitoring skills
• Familiarity with electronic medical records and accurate documentation
• Ability to prioritize and respond in high-acuity situations
• Patient education and bedside coaching skills
