Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess patient respiratory status and develop individualized care plans
• Operate and manage ventilators and advanced respiratory equipment safely and effectively
• Deliver therapeutic treatments including aerosolized medications and airway clearance
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary team members to optimize patient outcomes
• Perform arterial blood gas sampling and interpretation to guide treatment decisions
• Closely monitor patient response and adjust therapy while documenting interventions accurately
• Provide patient and family education on respiratory care, equipment use, and discharge planning

Qualifications

• Active Respiratory Therapist credential (RRT preferred, CRT acceptable depending on state rules)
• Georgia state respiratory license or eligibility to obtain state licensure
• Current BLS certification required; ACLS and PALS preferred where applicable
• Minimum clinical experience in acute care settings preferred, but new grads with strong clinical rotations considered
• Strong critical thinking, communication, and teamwork skills

Education

• Associate's degree in Respiratory Therapy or related field (required)
• Bachelor's degree in Respiratory Therapy or Healthcare-related field (preferred)

Knowledge & Skills

• Mechanical ventilation management and troubleshooting
• Airway management and oxygen therapy
• Arterial blood gas collection and interpretation
• Familiarity with EMR documentation and clinical workflows
• Infection control practices and safety protocols
• Ability to prioritize patient care in fast-paced acute settings
