Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, compassionate nursing care to step-down (SDU) patients using evidence-based practices
• Assess, monitor and document patient status, intervening promptly for changes in condition
• Collaborate with physicians, therapists and multidisciplinary team members to coordinate patient care and discharge planning
• Administer medications, titrate IV drips and manage complex nursing interventions safely
• Educate patients and families about conditions, treatments and post-discharge care in a clear, reassuring manner
• Contribute to unit-based quality improvement and safety initiatives to enhance patient outcomes

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license — Louisiana licensure or eligibility preferred
• BLS (Basic Life Support) required; ACLS or progressive care certifications highly recommended
• Experience caring for telemetry/step-down patients is preferred; solid cardiac/critical care exposure is a plus
• Strong clinical judgment, communication skills, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to pass facility-required background checks and onboarding requirements

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) — BSN preferred where applicable

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry monitoring and interpretation
• Proficient assessment skills and early recognition of patient deterioration
• IV therapy, medication administration and infusion pump management
• Electronic medical record documentation
• Team-based communication and effective handoff practices
