Roles & Responsibilities

Provide high-quality, compassionate nursing care in the step-down unit
Monitor and interpret telemetry and hemodynamic data to detect changes in patient condition
Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately
Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to develop and execute patient care plans
Perform thorough patient assessments and document findings clearly and promptly
Educate patients and families on care plans, procedures and discharge goals
Respond quickly and appropriately to patient emergencies and escalating needs

Qualifications

Active Registered Nurse (RN) license appropriate for practice in Louisiana
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred
Previous experience in a step-down, telemetry, or critical care setting preferred
Strong clinical assessment skills and confident critical thinking under pressure
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well in a team-focused environment

Education

Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

Telemetry and cardiac rhythm interpretation
Medication administration and IV management
Patient assessment, triage and escalation
Care planning and interdisciplinary collaboration
Accurate clinical documentation and charting
Prioritization and time management in a fast-paced clinical setting
