Roles & Responsibilities

• Lead and maintain the internal risk management program to reduce patient harm and organizational risk.
• Serve as the Patient Safety Officer with organization-wide oversight of patient safety initiatives and process improvement.
• Plan, facilitate and lead Root Cause Analyses (RCA) and Failure Mode and Effects Analyses (FMEA) to identify system issues and corrective actions.
• Investigate, evaluate and report adverse incidents in accordance with regulatory and statutory requirements.
• Coordinate disclosure and follow-up with patients, families and clinical teams after adverse events.
• Conduct patient safety rounds and provide risk management and patient safety education across departments.
• Support accreditation and quality activities including chart audits, clinical reviews and data support for compliance with DNV, TJC, CMS, CARF.
• Collaborate with Medical Directors, the CMO, and corporate counsel on quality-of-care and peer review-related risk issues.
• Monitor regulatory trends, state statutes, and changes in technology to ensure organizational compliance and adaptation.
• Act as a resource, mentor and role model; provide cross-coverage for other Quality Management team roles as assigned.

Qualifications

• Current full, unrestricted, active Registered Nursing license in Alaska (agency staff must have an active AK license; direct hire must have applied for AK license prior to start date).
• CPHRM certification (must obtain within two (2) years if not already certified).
• Clinical competency demonstrated within 3 months of hire and maintained every 3 years.
• Minimum 3 years experience monitoring risk management, patient safety, quality and regulatory requirements and coordinating process changes.
• Demonstrated leadership in facilitating cross-functional teams and collaborating effectively across disciplines.
• Working knowledge of applicable federal and state laws and regulatory standards (DNV, TJC, CMS, CARF) and Alaska statutes.

Education

• Active Registered Nursing license in Alaska (required)
• CPHRM certification (required or obtain within 2 years)
• Clinical competency verification within 3 months of hire (and every 3 years thereafter)
