Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality progressive care to hemodynamically stable or predictably unstable medical-surgical patients from admission through discharge
• Perform skilled assessment and timely interventions for patients at risk of deterioration
• Operate and manage advanced medical equipment including arterial lines, central lines, chest tubes and ventilatory support devices
• Monitor cardiac telemetry and interpret EKGs to inform clinical decisions
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and communicate effectively with patients and families to achieve optimal outcomes
• Serve as a clinical leader on the unit: precept new staff, give direction to ancillary staff, and support charge nurses and providers in patient care delivery

Qualifications

• Current Montana RN licensure (or eligibility to obtain prior to start)
• Experience practicing in an advanced medical-surgical unit with recent Progressive Care or Critical Care experience required
• BLS, ACLS, and PALS required (may be obtained within 6 months of hire)
• Comfort and experience with ventilatory support (invasive and noninvasive), central and arterial lines, chest tubes and multiple IV pumps
• Preferred: EPNC and TNCC certifications, pediatric experience, pre/post PCI and pacemaker care experience

Education

• Degree from a Nursing Program (Associate Degree in Nursing or Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred)

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong competency in telemetry and EKG interpretation
• Proficient with IV therapy, multiple IV pumps and management of invasive devices
• Skilled in advanced nursing principles and progressive care interventions
• Ability to operate advanced monitoring and life support equipment and respond to changes quickly
• Excellent communication, clinical judgment and teamwork skills
