Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert post-anesthesia nursing care using ASPAN standards for patients from pediatric through geriatric age groups
• Perform thorough initial assessments and prioritize care based on physical evaluation, anesthesia reports, and medical records
• Develop and implement individualized care plans focusing on airway management, oxygen saturation, and pain control
• Collaborate with patients, families, physicians, and healthcare teams to ensure seamless transitions of care
• Monitor patient progress toward PACU discharge guidelines and communicate detailed reports to receiving units
• Maintain emergency supplies and equipment readiness while continuously updating your post-anesthesia nursing expertise

Qualifications

• Current Pennsylvania RN license required
• Minimum 2 years of PACU and Critical Care experience preferred
• ACLS, BLS, and PALS certifications required and must be maintained
• Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
• Professional demeanor with excellent judgment when caring for patients and families

Education

• Completion of an accredited registered nurse program

Knowledge & Skills

• Expertise in the nursing process and patient assessment techniques
• Proficiency in airway management and pain management protocols
• Strong verbal, non-verbal, and written communication abilities
• Ability to remain calm and professional in high-stress situations
• Knowledge of anesthetic agents and post-operative care considerations
