Roles & Responsibilities

Provide safe, compassionate post-anesthesia care to surgical patients in the PACU
Monitor and assess patients’ physiologic status and recovery after anesthesia
Communicate changes in patient condition promptly to anesthesia and surgical teams
Administer medications and manage IVs as ordered, documenting interventions clearly
Prepare patients and families for discharge with clear education and support
Maintain a safe, efficient PACU environment and adhere to facility protocols

Qualifications

Active Registered Nurse (RN) license or eligibility to practice in Louisiana
Experience working in PACU or post-anesthesia care (Registered Nurse - PACU listed as core skill)
Demonstrated ability to monitor and assess post-operative patients and collaborate with surgical/anesthesia teams
Current basic clinical competency consistent with PACU practice (facility will confirm specific credentialing requirements)

Knowledge & Skills

Post-anesthesia patient assessment and monitoring
Pain management and postoperative care principles
Effective communication and teamwork with surgical and anesthesia staff
Accurate clinical documentation and handoff reporting
Ability to prioritize care in a fast-paced PACU setting
