Registered Nurse - Oncology PCU
Location: Columbus, OH
Start Date: 06-01-2026

Contract Type: Travel Contract
Shift Type: Night, 3x12-hour (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM); specific nights vary and schedule is reviewed every 4-week period. Note: Orientation Week 1 = Monday-Friday days; Week 2 = 36 hours on-unit orientation with a preceptor.

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-acuity PCU and oncology patient care with clinical confidence and compassion
- Monitor telemetry and interpret dysrhythmias to guide timely interventions
- Manage central lines, peripheral lines and PICCs, and perform safe IV access/maintenance
- Administer and monitor blood products and PCA therapy according to protocols
- Support rapid response and code team processes when acute events occur
- Perform respiratory support tasks: HFNC, CPAP/BiPAP management, and tracheostomy care
- Carry out specialty procedures including chest tube management and continuous bladder irrigation
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team (RT, PT, pharmacy, social work) to coordinate patient-centered care
- Follow infection prevention and isolation precautions to keep patients and staff safe
- Document accurately in Epic and maintain high standards of charting and handoff communication
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse license (state of practice) required
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS/BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and NIHSS certification required
- High-acuity PCU/stepdown experience required; oncology experience preferred but not required
- At least 2 years of relevant clinical experience preferred; must meet experience requirements within the past 3 years with at least 1 year of current specialty experience for a clinical pass
- Comfortable floating to units of equivalent or lower acuity as needed
- Familiarity with Epic charting system required
- Willingness to learn, participate in orientation, and grow your nursing practice
Knowledge & Skills
- Telemetry monitoring and cardiac dysrhythmia interpretation/management
- IV therapy: starting/maintaining IVs, PICC line care, central and peripheral line management
- Blood product administration and transfusion monitoring
- Feeding tube care and management
- Chest tube management (Emerson/Pleur-evac) and wound care/Wound Vac
- High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC), CPAP/BiPAP management, and non-invasive airway support
- Tracheostomy care and respiratory assessment
- Interpretation of arterial blood gases (ABGs)
- Use of rapid response/code teams and emergency response procedures
- Infection prevention, isolation precautions, and patient safety/fall prevention
- Familiarity with Alaris pumps, GE telemetry monitors, bladder scanner, PCA pumps and Stryker beds
- Basic phlebotomy and titration protocols (heparin, cardiac drips, insulin drips) — where applicable
